Florida National High Adventure Seabase February 2019
I am happy to report, all have returned safely from our journey to the Florida National High Adventure Seabase.
We captured the power of the wind to move us on the ocean as those who ventured to this new world hundreds of years ago.
We looked up at the stars at night and marveled at the vastness of the universe and our position in it.
We battled against the power of our sun. The source of our strength and humbled by its power. At dinner each night we gave thanks for its warming light.
We witnessed nature’s beauty with a visit from a family of dolphins. We observed a parent dolphin at the side of our boat guiding a young dolphin along its way just as our own parents have guided us along our way.
We looked below the ocean waves to see a new world filled with diversity and living in harmony.
Each scout took the helm to guide our vessel towards our destination just as in life when you must take the wheel and select a course to follow to reach our goals. Making corrections along the way for changes in the wind.
We took turns cooking for each other. We ate every meal together. We looked out for each other by standing anchor watch each night to ensure no harm came to those sleeping under our watch.
Most of all we shared each other’s company as scouting brothers for a week in February 2019 on a sailboat in the Florida Keys.
Troop discussions for a return to a National High Adventure base in 2022 have started.
Thank you to all who helped make this adventure possible.
